Peach 'Garden Lady'

'Garden Lady' is a genetic dwarf peach tree specifically bred for the UK climate and small garden spaces. It typically reaches a maximum height of only 1.5 meters, making it perfect for growing in a large pot on a sunny patio or in a small border. Despite its diminutive size, it produces full-sized, yellow-fleshed peaches with a beautiful red-flushed skin and a sweet, melting flavour. In early spring, it is adorned with an abundance of striking, deep-pink blossoms that are highly ornamental; however, these may require protection from frost with horticultural fleece. It is self-fertile, so a single specimen will fruit effectively. To prevent peach leaf curl, a common fungal disease in the UK, it is advisable to keep the tree under cover or in a rain-sheltered spot during winter and early spring. It requires plenty of water during the fruit-development stage.

Sun: Full sun (sheltered).

Soil: Rich, well-drained compost or loam.

Hardiness: H4 — down to −10°C.

Flowering: Mar, Apr.
