Portugal Laurel
A classic evergreen shrub widely used for formal hedging, screening, or as a specimen plant. It features handsome, glossy, dark green leaves with reddish stems, providing year-round interest. In early summer, it produces slender, upright racemes of fragrant white flowers, followed by small, dark red berries that mature to black, offering food for birds. It forms a dense, upright shrub, eventually reaching 4-6 metres in height and 2-4 metres in spread if left unpruned. Hardy (H5) and adaptable, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and most well-drained soils. Tolerates pruning well.
