Plum 'Denniston's Superb' 'Denniston\s Superb'

'Denniston\'s Superb' (also known as Imperial Gage) is widely considered one of the finest dessert gages for the UK garden. Originating from New York but perfectly adapted to British conditions, it produces medium-sized, round-oval fruits with a greenish-yellow skin. The golden flesh is transparent, sweet, and possesses a rich, succulent flavour that rivals the more capricious 'Old Green Gage'. Unlike many other gages, 'Denniston\'s Superb' is highly reliable, regular in its cropping, and fully self-fertile. It ripens in mid-August. The tree is vigorous with an upright-spreading habit and is notable for its hardiness and ability to thrive even in cooler, northern regions where other gages might fail to ripen. The white blossom in spring is prolific and provides a good nectar source. It requires a sunny site to maximize fruit sweetness and prefers moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. This variety is an excellent choice for a first-time fruit grower.
