Plum 'Anna Späth'

A late-season dessert plum of German origin that is highly successful in UK gardens. It produces medium to large, oval fruits with dark reddish-purple skin and sweet, juicy, yellow-green flesh. As a late cropper, the fruit is usually ready for picking in late September or early October, extending the plum season significantly. The tree is moderately vigorous and has a compact, upright growth habit, making it suitable for smaller gardens or for training as a fan against a sunny wall. It is partially self-fertile but will yield a much heavier crop if planted near another plum in the same pollination group. The spring blossom is white and prolific, providing an early food source for bees. It prefers a sheltered site to protect the late-ripening fruit from autumn gales. Soil should be rich and hold moisture without becoming waterlogged.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Deep, fertile, well-drained soil.
