Cherry Plum 'Myrobalan'

The Myrobalan plum, or Cherry Plum, is a vigorous small tree or large shrub, growing to 5-8m in height and spread. It's often used as a rootstock but also cultivated for its early, abundant crops of small, round, red or yellow fruits, ripening in July-August, which are excellent for pies and jams. Extremely hardy (H6) and adaptable to a wide range of soils, it tolerates partial shade but fruits best in full sun. Its profusion of white flowers in March-April is one of the earliest signs of spring and a vital early nectar source for bees. It offers good wildlife value.
