Wild Cherry
The wild cherry, also known as Gean, is a beautiful native UK deciduous tree, celebrated for its spectacular spring blossom and graceful form. In April, clusters of pure white, cup-shaped flowers adorn the bare branches, providing a stunning display. These are followed by small, dark red, edible but tart cherries in summer, which are a favourite of birds. Its glossy, dark green leaves turn vibrant orange and red in autumn. Hardy and relatively fast-growing, it prefers well-drained soil and full sun. An excellent specimen tree for medium to large gardens or woodland edges.
