Spring Cinquefoil 'Nana,description:'
Potentilla neumanniana 'Nana' is an excellent, prostrate, evergreen perennial that forms a dense and vigorous carpet of foliage. The leaves are palmate, deeply lobed, and a bright green, providing a lush groundcover even when not in bloom. In mid to late spring, it produces a profusion of small, buttercup-like, bright yellow flowers that sit just above the foliage. This cultivar is much more compact than the species, making it ideal for the small-scale rock garden or for planting in the cracks between paving stones. It is an incredibly easy and reliable plant for UK gardens, tolerating a wide range of soil conditions as long as they are well-drained. It is also very hardy and can withstand exposed sites. After flowering, the mat of foliage remains a tidy and attractive feature for the rest of the year. It can also be used as a 'living mulch' around taller alpines.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Any well-drained soil.
