Spring Cinquefoil 'Nana'

Potentilla neumanniana 'Nana' is a superb, low-growing ground cover that forms a very tight, prostrate mat of tiny, strawberry-like, dark green leaves. In late spring and early summer, it is literally covered with a carpet of bright, golden-yellow flowers that face upward to the sun. This cultivar is much more compact than the species, making it ideal for rock gardens, path edgings, or as a vibrant 'living mulch' between larger shrubs. It is incredibly robust and fully hardy in the UK, often maintaining its foliage through all but the harshest winters. It prefers a well-drained soil in a sunny position and is remarkably drought-tolerant once established. Its ability to create a solid carpet of colour in a short space of time makes it a favourite for gardeners looking for quick coverage. After flowering, the foliage remains tidy and attractive for the rest of the season. It's a reliable, cheerful performer that requires almost no maintenance.
