Shrubby Cinquefoil
Potentilla fruticosa 'Pink Paradise' is a delightful, dwarf deciduous shrub that provides a exceptionally long season of colour. It forms a low, bushy mound of small, divided, silver-grey to green leaves. From early summer right through to the first frosts, it is covered in a succession of charming, semi-double, clear pink flowers with yellow centres. This cultivar is notable for its flowers holding their pink colour better in the sun than older varieties, although they still appreciate some protection from the strongest mid-day heat. It is incredibly hardy (H7) and a very low-maintenance plant, making it perfect for the edges of borders, rockeries, or as an informal low hedge. It is also very drought-tolerant once established. It will grow in any well-drained soil and benefits from a light trim in early spring to maintain its shape and encourage fresh, floriferous growth. Its longevity and resilience make it a staple of the British shrub border.
