Solomon's Seal

Polygonatum multiflorum, the Solomon's Seal, is an elegant and architectural perennial perfect for shaded areas in UK gardens, reaching 60-90cm. From April to June, graceful, arching stems bear rows of delicate, bell-shaped, greenish-white flowers that dangle beneath the leaves. These are followed by attractive blue-black berries in autumn. It thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial to full shade, where it will slowly spread to form handsome clumps. Fully hardy (RHS H6), its stately presence and subtle beauty make it ideal for woodland borders, naturalistic plantings, or as a backdrop for smaller shade lovers. A truly sophisticated plant with year-round appeal.
