Split Rock
The Split Rock plant is an extraordinary mimicry succulent, resembling a rough, greyish-green stone that appears to be splitting open. Each plant typically consists of two thick, hemispherical leaves, with new leaves and a vibrant, usually yellow or orange, daisy-like flower emerging from the fissure in autumn. This highly specialised South African native is a fascinating addition to a specialist succulent collection in the UK. It demands exceptionally sharp drainage and a very bright, sunny, frost-free environment, such as a conservatory or south-facing windowsill. Watering must be extremely sparse and precisely timed to its growth cycle, keeping it almost entirely dry in winter.
