Candy Stripe Bamboo 'Akebono'

Pleioblastus viridistriatus 'Akebono' is a highly ornamental and vibrant dwarf running bamboo, celebrated in UK gardens for its incredibly bright, yellow-green foliage marked with darker green stripes, especially vivid in spring and autumn. This particular cultivar is renowned for its intense colouration. While it is a running bamboo, its dwarf habit makes its spread more manageable, and it's superb as groundcover, especially when cut back hard in spring to encourage fresh, colourful growth. It is also excellent in containers. It prefers partial shade, which helps maintain its bright leaf colour, and moist, well-drained soil. It is tough and hardy, adding a cheerful splash of colour.
