White-striped Dwarf Bamboo

Pleioblastus argenteostriatus, often known as White-striped Dwarf Bamboo, is a charming, low-growing, running bamboo prized for its fine-textured, variegated foliage. Its slender, dark green leaves are delicately striped with white or creamy-yellow, creating a bright and airy effect. This compact bamboo typically reaches an ultimate height of 0.3-0.8 metres with a vigorous spreading habit, making it an excellent choice for ground cover. However, its spread must be managed with a rhizome barrier or by growing in containers. It is hardy in the UK, rated H5, tolerating temperatures down to -15°C. 'Argenteostriatus' thrives in partial shade to full sun, with partial shade often enhancing the variegation. It prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Flowering is rare and insignificant. Its delicate foliage provides year-round interest and can brighten up shadier spots in the garden.
