Chinese Thuja cultivar 'Aurea Nana'

Commonly known as the 'Golden Book Pine' because of its vertical, fan-like foliage sprays that resemble the pages of a book, 'Aurea Nana' is a much-loved dwarf conifer in the UK. It forms a neat, egg-shaped mound that stays naturally compact without pruning. The new growth in spring is a bright, butter-yellow, which matures to a golden-green in summer and often takes on a beautiful bronze or orange hue during the winter. It is hardy to H6 but performs best in a site sheltered from cold, drying winds which can scorch the tips of the foliage. It requires a sunny spot to produce its best golden colour. It is a fantastic choice for adding vertical structure and winter colour to a rockery or for use in permanent container displays. This plant is very amenable to UK garden conditions, provided it is grown in well-drained soil and not allowed to sit in water during the winter months.
