Kohuhu 'Golf Ball'
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golf Ball' is a unique and highly desirable evergreen shrub that naturally forms a nearly perfect, dense sphere without the need for frequent pruning. It features small, round, mid-green leaves held on dark, inconspicuous stems, giving it a soft yet structured appearance. This cultivar is an excellent, modern alternative to Box (Buxus) for low hedging, pathway edging, or as an accent plant in contemporary UK garden designs. It is vigorous and multi-stemmed, staying compact and "full" to the ground. While it produces small, honey-scented purple flowers in late spring, they are relatively insignificant compared to the foliage. It is generally hardy down to -5°C or -10°C, but in colder northern regions or exposed sites, it may require some winter protection. It thrives in well-drained soil and is remarkably drought-tolerant once established. Its low-maintenance requirements and naturally neat habit make it a favorite for busy gardeners.
