Kohuhu 'Elizabeth'
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Elizabeth' is a sophisticated and highly decorative evergreen shrub that makes an elegant, medium-sized hedge. It is characterized by its wavy-edged, oval leaves which are a soft grey-green, beautifully margined with creamy-white and often tinged with pink during the colder winter months. These leaves are held on distinctive, contrasting thin black stems, creating a contemporary and light appearance. In late spring and early summer, it produces small, honey-scented, dark purple flowers which, though tiny, can fill the garden with fragrance on warm evenings. It has a naturally neat, upright habit and is relatively fast-growing. While it is hardy (H4) across much of the UK, it performs best in a sheltered position away from harsh, drying winds and in well-drained soil. It is particularly well-suited to coastal gardens. Regular light trimming in spring or summer will help maintain a dense and tidy screen.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil.
