Maincrop Pea 'Ambassador'

'Ambassador' is a highly productive, late-season maincrop pea that is widely regarded for its exceptional resistance to powdery mildew, a common issue during the later stages of the UK summer. This variety produces heavy yields of blunt-ended, dark green pods, each typically containing 7 to 9 large, sweet, succulent peas. The plants have a semi-leafless habit with increased tendrils, which helps them to self-support to some degree, though they still benefit from netting or pea sticks. Reaching a height of about 75cm, it is a manageable variety for any garden size. It is best sown from April to June for a harvest through mid to late summer. For optimum flavor, peas should be picked and eaten as soon as possible after harvest. 'Ambassador' is often selected for its ability to produce a reliable crop even in seasons where weather conditions might be unfavorable for other pea varieties.
