Japanese Black Pine 'Ogon'

Pinus thunbergii 'Ogon' is an exceptional cultivar of the Japanese Black Pine, highly prized for its brilliant golden-yellow spring and summer foliage, which ages to a softer yellow-green as the season progresses. This gives the tree a stunning luminous quality, especially in full sun. It forms an irregular, broadly conical habit, growing at a moderate pace to a height of 5-8m with a spread of 3-5m. Its stiff, long needles provide a rugged texture, contrasting beautifully with the golden colour. 'Ogon' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating coastal conditions and exposure. It makes a superb specimen tree, providing dramatic year-round colour and a strong visual focus in the landscape.
