Chinese Red Pine
The Chinese Red Pine is a vigorous and adaptable evergreen conifer, developing a broad, often flat-topped crown with age and attractive reddish-brown, scaly bark on mature specimens. Its long, stiff, dark green needles are borne in pairs, providing a robust texture. It is an excellent specimen tree for larger UK gardens and parkland, eventually reaching an ultimate height of 15-25 metres with a spread of 8-12 metres. This pine thrives in full sun and is remarkably tolerant of a wide range of well-drained soils, including poor, dry, and alkaline conditions. It is fully hardy, rated H7 by the RHS, and demonstrates good resistance to drought and urban pollution. Provides strong year-round structure and character.
