Pond Pine
A medium-sized pine native to the southeastern United States, typically found in swampy or poorly drained flatwoods, hence its common name. It forms an open, irregular crown with long, stiff, dark green needles in bundles of three. Ultimate height 15-25 metres, with a spread of 6-10 metres. Adaptable to moist, acidic soils and can tolerate occasional waterlogging, making it distinctive among pines. Prefers full sun. An unusual ornamental choice for very damp sites in milder UK gardens.
