Ponderosa Pine

The Ponderosa Pine is a large, stately evergreen conifer, noted for its exceptionally long, dark green needles (in bundles of three) and distinctive, deeply furrowed, orange-brown bark, which becomes more striking with age. It forms an open, conical crown when young, broadening with maturity. It is very hardy and highly drought-tolerant once established, preferring full sun and well-drained soil. Its 'flowers' are inconspicuous, but it produces large, ovoid cones with prickly scales. Ideal for large landscapes, parks, or as a specimen tree in arid regions, offering excellent visual impact and a rugged beauty.
