Macedonian Pine
The Macedonian Pine is an attractive medium to large evergreen conifer with a dense, conical habit, typically reaching an ultimate height of 15-25 metres with a spread of 6-10 metres. It is valued for its soft, slender, slightly glaucous green needles, which are borne in bundles of five. Fully hardy (H6-H7), it is a very adaptable pine, thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating both acidic and alkaline conditions. It shows good resistance to white pine blister rust. While its flowers are inconspicuous, it produces elegant, cylindrical, resinous cones that are initially green and ripen to brown. An excellent specimen tree for larger gardens, offering a good alternative to the Eastern White Pine.
