Japanese White Pine 'Adcocks Dwarf'
Pinus parviflora 'Adcock's Dwarf' is a charming, slow-growing conifer that is highly prized for rock gardens and bonsai enthusiasts in the UK. It forms a dense, rounded mound of short, twisted needles that are an attractive blue-green with distinctive white inner surfaces. This cultivar is exceptionally hardy (H6) and is known for its rugged, aged appearance even when young. It grows very slowly, typically adding only a few centimetres each year, making it ideal for containers or small alpine gardens. It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil and a position in full sun to maintain its tight shape and vibrant needle colour. Like most Japanese White Pines, it may produce small, decorative cones even at a young age. It is very resistant to pests and diseases and requires almost no maintenance. For those looking to add a touch of Zen or a sense of maturity to a small space, this conifer is an excellent choice.
