Black Austrian Pine
The Black Austrian Pine is a robust and resilient evergreen conifer, forming a dense, pyramidal to broadly conical crown with stiff, dark green, sharply pointed needles borne in pairs. It is an excellent specimen tree for larger UK gardens, parks, and coastal areas due to its tolerance of challenging conditions. It can reach an ultimate height of 20-30 metres with a spread of 10-15 metres. This tough pine thrives in full sun and is exceptionally adaptable, tolerating a wide range of well-drained soils, including poor, sandy, stony, and alkaline sites. It is exceptionally hardy, rated H7 by the RHS, and highly resistant to wind and salt spray. Provides year-round dark green structure and a strong presence.
