Montezuma Pine
An elegant and distinctive pine known for its exceptionally long, bluish-green needles, often growing in bundles of five. This species has a relatively open, spreading habit, developing into a handsome, broadly conical tree over time. It can reach an ultimate height of 15-25 metres with a spread of 8-12 metres, though it is slower growing in cooler UK climates. Fairly hardy (H5) once established, it prefers a sheltered position in full sun and well-drained soil, ideally neutral to acidic. While not native, it adds an exotic, textural element to larger gardens and parklands. Cones are large and attractive. This pine offers unique visual interest due to its striking foliage.
