Korean Stone Pine

The Korean Stone Pine is a slow-growing, medium-sized evergreen conifer, eventually reaching 10-15m in height and 5-8m spread. It's valued for its attractive bluish-green needles, stately form, and most notably, its large, edible pine nuts, which are considered a delicacy. Cones mature in their third year, with nuts harvested in autumn. Extremely hardy (H6) and adaptable to a range of well-drained soils, it prefers full sun. It's a long-lived tree that, once mature, provides a consistent supply of nutritious nuts. It also makes a beautiful specimen tree in larger gardens.
