Jeffrey Pine
The Jeffrey Pine is a magnificent large evergreen conifer, celebrated for its long, stiff, grey-green needles, borne in bundles of three, and its distinctive, often vanilla-scented bark on mature specimens. It forms a grand, broadly conical crown with stout, ascending branches, making a superb specimen for large UK parkland or very spacious gardens. It can reach an ultimate height of 20-35 metres with a spread of 8-15 metres. This robust pine thrives in full sun and prefers deep, well-drained, even poor, neutral to acidic soils. It is fully hardy, rated H7 by the RHS, and remarkably tolerant of both drought and strong winds once established. Its large, impressive cones are a further ornamental feature.
