Calabrian Pine

The Calabrian Pine is a fast-growing, medium to large evergreen conifer, reaching 15-25m in height and 8-12m spread. It produces edible pine nuts, smaller than those from Pinus pinea but still palatable and used in Mediterranean cuisine. This hardy (H6) pine thrives in full sun and well-drained, even poor, soils, making it suitable for drier, warmer parts of the UK. Female cones develop after 3-5 years, maturing in their second year. Its attractive long, bright green needles give it a graceful appearance. It's a resilient tree, tolerant of coastal exposure once established.
