Tiger Tail Spruce
The Tiger Tail Spruce is a distinctive evergreen conifer, prized for its stiff, sharply pointed, glossy dark green needles that radiate around the shoots, creating a bottle-brush effect. It forms a handsome, broadly conical habit with dense branching, making a robust specimen tree for medium to large UK gardens. It typically reaches an ultimate height of 15-25 metres with a spread of 6-10 metres, though it is slow-growing initially. This spruce thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soils. It is fully hardy, rated H7 by the RHS, and is quite tolerant of urban conditions once established. Its strong, architectural form provides excellent year-round structure and character.
