Dwarf Spruce 'Echiniformis'
Picea glauca 'Echiniformis' is a charming dwarf evergreen conifer, forming a dense, rounded or cushion-like mound of short, stiff, grey-green needles. This slow-growing cultivar is perfect for rock gardens, alpine troughs, or small borders in UK gardens, where it provides excellent year-round structure and texture. It typically reaches an ultimate height of 0.3-0.5 metres with a similar spread. Its compact habit makes it very low maintenance. This spruce thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic to neutral soils. It is fully hardy, rated H7 by the RHS, and relatively tolerant of urban pollution. An ideal choice for adding a miniature conifer accent to confined spaces.
