Dragon Spruce

The Dragon Spruce is a handsome, medium to large evergreen conifer, forming a dense, broadly conical tree with stiff, somewhat ascending branches. It can reach an ultimate height of 20-30m and a spread of 8-12m. Its short, stiff, sharply pointed, glaucous blue-green needles are arranged radially around the shoots. This species thrives in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained, fertile, slightly acidic soil. It is hardy in the UK (H6-H7) and relatively tolerant of urban pollution. Distinctive, large, pendulous, brown cones are a notable feature. An impressive specimen tree for larger gardens or parklands, providing a strong architectural presence and dense foliage for year-round interest.
