Weeping Norway Spruce 'Inversa'

A truly eccentric and characterful conifer, 'Inversa' is a weeping form of the Norway Spruce. Left to its own devices, it will crawl across the ground as a dense, dark green carpet. However, it is most commonly seen trained up a stake to a desired height, from which the branches fall vertically like a heavy green curtain, often resting on the ground and spreading out. This makes each specimen unique, adding a 'living sculpture' feel to the garden. It is incredibly hardy (H7) and easy to grow in most UK garden soils, provided they are not waterlogged. The needles are short, stiff, and a deep, lustrous green year-round. It is a fantastic plant for a large rock garden or as a focal point in a lawn where its unusual form can be best appreciated. It is very slow-growing and requires little maintenance other than ensuring the initial stake is sturdy and well-matured. This conifer represents a dramatic departure from the traditional Christmas tree shape of the species.
