Ninebark 'Amber Jubilee'

Physocarpus opulifolius 'Amber Jubilee' was famously named in honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. It is a stunning deciduous shrub that offers a kaleidoscope of foliage colours throughout the growing season. The emerging leaves in spring are a vibrant mix of yellow, orange, and gold, often with glowing red tips. As the season progresses, the foliage matures to a lime green before turning spectacular shades of purple and red in autumn. In early summer, it produces clusters of small white flowers that are favoured by pollinators, which are followed by decorative red seed heads. The common name 'Ninebark' refers to the attractive, peeling bark seen on older stems. It is extremely hardy (H7) and very easy to grow in most soils, though the best foliage colours are achieved in full sun. It is a tough, versatile shrub that works well in mixed borders or as a colourful informal hedge.
