Tomatillo 'Purple de Milpa'

'Purple de Milpa' is a vibrant and productive tomatillo cultivar, producing abundant small, purple-tinged fruits encased in a papery husk. These fruits offer a tangy, citrusy flavour, essential for authentic Mexican salsas and sauces. The bushy plants grow to 90-120cm tall with a spread of 60-90cm, requiring staking for support. They are H1C hardy and thrive in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil, much like tomatoes. Tomatillos are best grown in pairs or groups for good pollination and fruit set. Harvest when the husks split and the fruits are firm. The purple colour deepens with sun exposure. Attracts bees and other pollinators to its small, inconspicuous yellow flowers. A superb choice for adding a unique flavour to your culinary repertoire.
