Reddish Bamboo 'Rubricolor'
Phyllostachys rubromarginata 'Rubricolor' is a vigorous and attractive running bamboo, highly regarded in UK gardens for its striking culms that emerge with distinctive reddish margins on the new culm sheaths, maturing to a lovely green. This cultivar is known for its strong, upright growth and relatively thick culms, making it an excellent choice for a tall, dense screen or a robust specimen plant. Due to its running nature, a root barrier is essential to prevent unwanted spread. It creates an impactful architectural presence. It is very hardy and prefers a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil to achieve its best colouration and growth.
