Holly Leaf Bamboo 'Holochrysa'

A refined and elegant specimen, 'Holochrysa' is a cultivar of the Giant Timber Bamboo specifically selected for its vivid golden-yellow culms. Unlike the species, these canes lack the green stripe, presenting a pure, warm honey hue that glows in the low UK winter sun. The habit is upright and architectural, reaching 5-7 metres in height. It is a running bamboo, so it requires space or containment. The leaves are large, glossy, and vibrant green, creating a beautiful contrast against the gold stems. It is hardy to H5 but appreciates a position protected from drying winds which can scorch the foliage. It thrives in rich, organic soil and benefits from consistent moisture during the growing season. This bamboo is excellent for creating a high-end, contemporary look in larger urban gardens or parkland settings where its scale and colour can be showcased.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Moist but well-drained, rich soil.

Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
