Bamboo indigenous 'Harbin Inversa'

A truly spectacular and rare cultivar of the Zig-zag Bamboo. This variety features stems that are almost entirely butter-yellow but are decorated with numerous fine, dark green vertical pinstripes. The texture of the canes is also unique, often having a fine, sandpaper-like feel. Like other aureosulcata varieties, it is incredibly hardy (H6) and tough, capable of thriving in most parts of the UK including exposed sites. It is a running bamboo that grows quite upright to about 4-5 metres. This cultivar is highly prized as a specimen plant because of the intricate detailing on the canes, which are best seen if the lower branches are pruned away ('leggy' look). It is a vigorous grower and will need a root barrier in smaller gardens. It is very drought tolerant once established and provides excellent year-round structure and a bright splash of colour.
