Yellow Groove Bamboo 'Harbin'
Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Harbin' is a distinctive and robust running bamboo, valued in UK gardens for its strong, upright culms that usually display a green sulcus (groove) on yellow culms, though the colour can vary. Its standout feature is its tolerance for colder conditions and its ability to maintain a strong, architectural form. Like other vigorous running bamboos, a root barrier is highly recommended to manage its spread. It forms an effective and dense screen or a dramatic specimen plant, particularly where a strong vertical element is desired. It is very hardy and prefers a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil, though it will tolerate some shade.
