Golden Groove Bamboo 'Aureocaulis'
Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Aureocaulis', often called Golden Groove Bamboo, is a magnificent running bamboo renowned for its striking golden-yellow culms, often streaked with a distinctive green sulcus (groove). This vibrant colour intensifies in direct sunlight. Like other running bamboos, it needs either careful containment with a root barrier or planting in a large container to manage its spread in UK gardens. It forms an upright, dense clump, providing excellent screening or a strong architectural focal point. The canes have a pleasing zigzag appearance at the lower nodes. It is very hardy and prefers a sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well-drained soil.
