Photinia 'Pink Marble'
'Pink Marble' (also known as 'Cassini') is a striking and contemporary evergreen hedging plant that offers a multicoloured twist on the popular 'Red Robin'. Like its relative, the new growth in spring is a bright, vibrant red, but this cultivar adds a unique variegation: the leaves are irregularly edged with creamy-white and splashed with pink and green. As the foliage matures, it turns dark green with white margins, providing year-round interest. It has an upright, bushy habit and can be easily maintained as a hedge from 1.5 to 3 metres tall. It is hardy (H4) but prefers a sheltered site as late frosts can damage the tender new red shoots. It grows best in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, which produces the most vivid colours. Regular clipping in spring and summer encourages multiple flushes of the colourful new growth. It is a fantastic choice for a high-impact, modern boundary.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil.
