New Zealand Flax 'Cream Delight'

Phormium cookianum 'Cream Delight' is a magnificent evergreen perennial, often used in UK gardens for its bold, architectural form and striking variegated foliage. While technically a perennial, its large size and woody base give it a shrub-like presence, reaching 1.5 metres in height and spread. It features arching, sword-shaped leaves with broad cream margins and a green central stripe, providing superb year-round structure and colour. In summer, tall flower spikes bear reddish-brown flowers. 'Cream Delight' thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil. It's relatively hardy in milder coastal and urban areas of the UK but may require protection in colder, inland regions.
