Annual Phlox 'Cherry Caramel'
'Cherry Caramel' is a relatively recent and incredibly popular introduction to the UK's annual plant palette. It features clusters of small, fragrant flowers in a unique and sophisticated colour combination: creamy caramel-buff with a deep cherry-red eye at the centre. Growing to a modest height of 40-50cm, it is perfect for the front of a border or for adding a vintage touch to containers. This half-hardy annual has a slightly sprawling, bushy habit and is wonderful for picking, as the more you cut, the more it seems to flower. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and is quite drought-tolerant once it has settled in. In the UK, sow seeds indoors in early spring or directly onto the soil surface in late May. Its subtle, warm tones make it an excellent companion for other 'antique' coloured flowers like Rudbeckia 'Sahara' or chocolate-coloured grasses.
