Dwarf French Bean 'Safari'
'Safari' is a premium 'extra fine' Kenyan-style dwarf French bean that performs exceptionally well in UK gardens. This variety is noted for its heavy yields of very straight, slender, stringless pods that are dark green and approximately 12cm long. The habit is compact and bushy, reaching about 40-50cm, making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens or container growing. In the UK, it should be sown under glass in April or directly outside from late May once the risk of frost has passed. It produces white flowers followed by a prolific crop. It requires a sheltered, sunny spot to thrive and regular picking to encourage the plant to continue producing flowers and pods. As a short-lived annual, it has a hardiness rating of H2. It benefits from a mulch to retain moisture in the soil during dry summer spells. The pods have a crisp texture and a sweet, delicate flavour.
