Tree Peony
Paeonia suffruticosa, commonly known as the Tree Peony, is a deciduous shrub that brings an unparalleled sense of grandeur and exotic beauty to UK gardens. Unlike herbaceous peonies, it forms a woody framework, producing spectacular, often enormous, cup-shaped flowers in late spring. These blooms, in shades of white, pink, red, purple, and yellow, can reach up to 25cm across and are often fragrant, making a truly opulent statement. Growing slowly to 1.5-2.5 metres, it adds structural elegance. It thrives in a sheltered position in full sun to partial shade, in deep, fertile, well-drained soil, neutral to slightly alkaline. A stunning, long-lived specimen.
