Wood sorrel 'Triangularis'

Oxalis regnellii 'Triangularis', commonly known as purple shamrock or false shamrock, is a delightful and widely cultivated tuberous perennial praised for its striking foliage. It features three triangular, deep purple leaves that fold up at night or in strong sunlight, resembling a cluster of butterflies. Delicate, pale pink to white, trumpet-shaped flowers emerge intermittently throughout the growing season, typically from spring to autumn, on slender stalks above the foliage. This plant generally reaches a height and spread of 15-25cm. It thrives in partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Often grown as a houseplant due to its tenderness, it can be planted outdoors in containers or sheltered borders during summer in the UK, provided it is brought indoors for winter. It adds distinctive colour and movement to planting schemes, making it a popular ornamental choice.
