Lucky Clover 'Fanny'
Oxalis triangularis 'Fanny' is a delicate and attractive tuberous perennial that is often grown as a houseplant but can be used effectively in UK gardens during the summer. This cultivar features beautiful, shamrock-like leaves in a soft, silvery-green with a subtle darker green pattern in the centre. From late spring through summer, it produces clusters of small, trumpet-shaped white to pale pink flowers that hover above the foliage. It is a compact plant, usually reaching 20cm in height. In the UK, it is tender (H2) and will not survive a frost. Gardeners often grow it in containers on a patio or use it as a seasonal bedding plant in a shaded spot. The tubers can be lifted in autumn and stored in a dry, frost-free place, or the container can be brought indoors. One of its most charming features is 'nyctinasty', where the leaves fold up like umbrellas at night or during rain. It prefers a position in partial shade to prevent the foliage from scorching.

Soil: Well-drained, fertile compost.
