Cinnamon Fern

Osmundastrum cinnamomeum, commonly known as the Cinnamon Fern, is a grand deciduous fern native to North and South America and East Asia. It is celebrated for its distinctive fertile fronds that emerge in spring, covered in cinnamon-coloured woolly hairs, resembling cinnamon sticks, before fading to dark brown. These stand upright in the centre of the plant amidst the arching, bright green sterile fronds, which can reach up to 1.5 meters in height. It forms a substantial, impressive clump and thrives in consistently moist to boggy, acidic soil and partial to full shade. An excellent choice for waterside plantings, bog gardens, or large woodland areas.
