Star-of-Bethlehem

Ornithogalum nutans, sometimes called 'Drooping Star-of-Bethlehem', is an elegant and less vigorous species compared to some of its relatives, making it a well-behaved addition to UK gardens. It produces graceful, nodding spikes of silvery-white, star-shaped flowers with a green stripe down the centre of each petal, typically blooming in late spring. Fully hardy, it prefers partial shade but can tolerate full sun, thriving in moist, well-drained soil. It's perfect for naturalising in woodland edge settings, under deciduous trees, or in a border where its delicate beauty can be appreciated. It offers a subtle charm and a welcome splash of brightness.
