Golden Oregano / Marjoram 'Thumbles Variety'

'Thumble's Variety' is an exceptional golden-leaved oregano that is highly valued by UK gardeners for its ability to maintain its bright colour without scorching in the sun. It forms a low, creeping carpet of small, rounded, vivid yellow leaves that provides a brilliant splash of ground-covering colour throughout the year. The foliage has a mild, pleasant flavor, suitable for culinary use as a milder alternative to Greek oregano. In late summer, it produces clusters of pretty pink flowers that stand out beautifully against the golden foliage and are very attractive to bees. This cultivar is more robust than many other golden varieties and is fully hardy in the UK. It is perfect for planting at the front of a sunny border, in a rockery, or in the gaps of a paved patio where it will release its scent when stepped upon. To maintain the best leaf colour and a tidy habit, it is recommended to trim the plant back after flowering. It prefers well-drained soil and a position in full sun.
