Pot Marjoram 'Compactum Nana'
Pot Marjoram is a robust and highly aromatic perennial herb, closely related to oregano, offering a milder, sweeter flavour often preferred in delicate dishes. It forms a bushy plant, typically 40-60cm tall, with oval, dark green leaves that are slightly hairy. Fully hardy in the UK (H7), it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it a reliable addition to any herb garden. Clusters of small, pinkish-purple flowers appear from mid-summer onwards, attracting a plethora of bees and butterflies. Regular harvesting of the leaves before flowering encourages denser growth and maintains flavour. It works well as ground cover or in rockeries.
